Recently, after much public 'scene drama' over the last couple of weeks, there been a falling out among some 'Elite warez' groups and as such things that have been around in the 'private channels' for a long while, have suddenly appeared in the mainstream public 'warez' sites. -- I got alot of 'hate mail' for not reporting this news earlier, so now I am just to give you a true low-down on what it all means to everyone thinking this is great PS3 news!
#1: v3.40 SDK was leaked by DUPLEX --> Read More: PS3News
Well this happen just after the start of the 'scene drama', and really it is nothing, as it very old and dated before even the first PSJailbreak on v3.41, it did have some newer PDF's in it that were not available to the public before, but plain and simple worthless!
#2: RSX Driver leaked by GITBREW --> Read More: PS3Hax
This caused a real shitstorm. -- But again the file been around since early July, and even link to in some pro-Linux forums and tutorials. -- It will not lead to better emulators or great super powerful Linux on the PS3 -- It is more a very early "work-in-progress" that got as far as mapping the FIFO buffer from the RSX into the Linux kernal. -- The file basically has an INIT and an EXIT -- In simple terms, it would take a team of Super Pro Linux Guru's, and alot more information to appear, and many hard months of coding and testing to turn this into a useful 'graphics driver' -- So just relax!
#3: Full v3.60 SDK leaked by JoHNAaRoN -- > Read More: PS3ISO
This happen last night, and caused even a bigger shitstorm that is still rolling down the hill at full speed. -- So lets break the ball up and look at it:
Point A:
Well yes it is v3.60, but read this news item first from us back in early August: --> v3.70 has new keys!
So to end all the talk having the SDK will allow CFW to appear now. -- Nope, sorry real Official Sony developers are already using v3.70 SDK -- And second there is nothing in an SDK that will allow even a real developer to SIGN stuff for Retail consoles. -- You need a TEST machine from Sony to run any of the files that the SDK produces. -- Only reason people can produce PKG files for older firmwares is because those KEYS are available. -- Sure this leak contained some new keys but they were still v3.55 ones, and the SDK will not help in getting keys from newer firmwares that is totally out of the scope of the SDK and field of usage it is designed for.
Point B:
There is Official 'watermarks' from Sony in the leaked SDK stuff, so if you have it get RID of it now, just a friendly warning, heads will be rolling soon, as it can be easy traced back to the original source.
Point C:
There is no point C, just a simple REMEMBER THE RULES HERE, you allow to speak your mind and discuss the above, but NO LINKING to the FILES!
UPDATED: -- Someone has open the TAP full, and now it not a LEAK, it is a major FLOOD!
#4: CEX to DEX kit leaked by zeryos -- > Read More: PS3News
Ok, this one is causing even more of shitstorm then the other leaks, but it is even more super worthless then the rest, it does nothing, it is missing tons of key files, it was build to used as one time shoot deal for a certain machine, and there is a reason that you cant generate IDPS with this version. it was made this way to not piss off Sony.
And to be honest I and many key developers that have studied this file since it was first leaked back in Sept. of 2008 have never figured out how they generate the IDPS.
THE END -- I must please remind you of POINT C above, NO LINKS TO FILES, NOTHING PERIOD, OR YOU WILL BE BANNED!
Ok then sorry Gary as i asked you to published the news, you might remember me from psx-scene... I'm not a trolling kind of guy. Now let's hope some other findings will come this next week as my birthday coming LoL
It seems that most of the folks out there don't understand the very basic thing:
The SDK is designed to help programmers in CREATING applications/games. It has absolutely nothing to do with the PROTECTION of the created applications/games (i.e. keys, encryption, etc). Thinking that somehow a SDK would lead to hacks/exploits/CFW is not serious at all.

See what was funny is everyone on PS3hax believe the gitbrew release is really an innovation in the scene. I saw several people post that it was the biggest milestone in the scene. But in all honesty no it's not. People even went as far as to say that little piece of source code would lead to high end emulators magically working, and even Crysis and other High end games would run on OtherOS. -PS I believe everyone here can see the stupidity in the latter statement. But I'll outline it, 1) Crysis is X86_64 and the PS3 is PPC 2) Crysis wouldn't run by itself on GAMEoS let alone ON TOP of an OS in OtherOS. Finally people said that would also lead to Windows working on the PS3 and the only reason why it wasn't working was because it didn't have enough access to resources. Again need I remind people the PS3 is PPC and Windows is based on X86_64. - Big difference.
All in all I'm glad Gary covered this as the Gitbrew release in particular got a lot of hype by a lot of people for absolutely nothing. What's worse with that is the fact that the higher ups or the respected members of the scene, didn't even correct the misinformation, they contributed to it. They just let it spread like wildfire. So props goes to Gary for stopping the misinformation before it spread even further.
EDIT: Note: I said the original Crysis, not to be confused with Crysis 2 which has console support.

This won't lead to anything new in the scene.
@Gary I believe you forgot about the NPDRM leak that accompanied the 3.60 SDK leak. Now I do wonder if that will lead to anything? Well actually NVM I believe it was only 3.55 NPDRM and 3.56 which people have been able to produce downloadable PSN games for free, for quite some time. The warez scene is full of PSN downloads including indy games. So basically no this won't change anything.
These links won't lead to any groundbreaking innovations, newer steps in homebrew, etc. If anything it will just allow more people to get access to the official FULL 3.40 SDK which was only in the hands of developers. So now everyone has access to them which will allow everyone to be on a level playing field with the devs. So normal end users can now just as easily start developing emulators like Square does. - But you have to be able to code though :P.

But Square actually uses the full 3.41 SDK. (hehe)
Agreed, and as well as that, some people have LITERALLY got their priorities wrong!
Don't even get me started, otherwise I might go on a killing, oops I mean hacking rampage! (NOT REALLY)
If only that particular somebody did a Jack Bauer and taught those retarded imbeciles a lesson - now THAT would be full of lulz!!!!!
Lastly, big thumbs up goes to GaryOPA for reporting this in a very transparent and straight-to-the-point manner.
I dont know how many times I see the usual questions asked when an SDK is leaked.
So this gitbrew stuff was just old leaked material?
I saw the people at ps3hax saying the naysayers had just been bitch slapped.
Has anyone been bitch slapped?
No it was just PS3hax hyping gitbrew I'm afraid.
