CFW 4.40 MiralaTijera UPDATE 1 & 2 (DLC, PS2 Classics work)

This is just a patch!
You need to get Official Firmware 4.40 from Sony yourself, then use this patch on it. -PB

I'm not much for writing news stories, so I added pretty colors and underlines and stuff. Anyway, Mirala Tijera a spanish dev has released his latest CFW for 4.40. He is usually the first when it comes to making a CFW out of the latest Sony firmware.

This CFW is great for users with a broken ps3 blu ray drive so I've been told and makes discless compatibility better. His CFW is also different in the fact that it's released as a patch and not a FULL "normal" CFW. You basically get the official firmware of the same version and use his patch.

Also as a bonus a new Iris Manager has been relased along with this from fellow spanish dev estwald for use with 4.40 CFW. Ok I'll shut up now, enjoy

You can reinstall the cfw on itself and can be installed from 4.31 miralatijera, and theoretically from any cfw (mine only confirmed)

sys_init_osd no longer exists, is completely replaced by CORE
Led always green (for now)

bugs: no controller BDEMU nonfunctional nonfunctional otheros

Iris Manager 2.22 with 4.40 payload included and ported to this release the sources I give them to estwald to upload it to the git

The creation process is identical to the previous cfw created by me ...
morning or this afternoon I will update the core to add bdemu without controller and the rest remains to carry the core;-)

Sony has patented a method to award trophies to users, even for games that don't natively support them...


Sony has filed -yet another- new patent which details different methods of offering trophies to users.

Called “Method and Apparatus for awarding trophies”, the patent explains a way to award trophies, even for games that don't natively support them...

“A method and apparatus for adding trophy support games that do not have trophies without modifying the original game,” the patent states.

“The method and apparatus are used to detect particular disk access, use the detected disk access as potential trophy triggers in games, and recognize the triggers while a game is played. Trophies are awarded based on the triggers, and the awarded trophies are stored.”
The diagram above also gives an idea of how it works:

“A method for assigning one or more trophies to a user, comprising: accessing media content; defining one or more trophies; defining a trigger associated with the media content; detecting the trigger during media content access; and assigning the one or more trophies to a user account that is associated with the user in response to the detected trigger.”

Hot on the heels of Sony releasing v4.40 OFW, Team REBUG has released an UPDATE package for their CFW firmware users!

PS2 Classics GUI v1.3 by Aldo is now available!

PLUS: PS3 Tools Collection v2.2.2.

Aldo has released a frontend for the ps2classic tool by the ps3dev-net team.
Additionally, his collection of tools has been updated.



PS2 Classics GUI by aldostools is a neat Windows frontend for the recently released ps2classic tool by the ps3dev-net team.

This one allows you to decrypt and encrypt the ISO.BIN.ENC.

The GUI is now at v1.3. Take a look at the changelog for all the recent updates:

Changes in 1.3:
- Added support for the VMC/VME commands.
- Added /? to display the command line syntax.

Changes in 1.2:
- Fixed the patch that writes the new image size and image type in the LIMG header.
- Now displays the 16 bytes of the LIMG header when the image is opened.
- Now allows to add the LIMG sector to the end of image.
- Changed the GUI to a "tabbed look".

Changes in 1.1:
- Added support for drag & drop and command line interface (CLI) -> pass the full path of the image as parameter.
- Added support for auto decryption if a PKG is selected or passed as parameter.
- RAP files are auto copied to the RAPS folder if they are present in the same folder of the PKG or in a "exdata" folder
- Pad verification (for multiple of 0x4000) now asks if you want to add the required padding when needed.
- Image type (CD or DVD) is now detected and displayed on the GUI
- Added option to patch the image with the file size and image type (CD or DVD)
The program looks for the LIMG header in the offset (File Size - 0x4000), and changes the 4 bytes size (in big endian format) to:
(Image Size - 0x4000) \ 0x800 for DVD and sets 8th byte to 1. Bytes 15-16 are set to 08 00
(Image Size - 0x4000) \ 0x930 for CD and sets 8th byte to 2. Bytes 15-16 are set to 09 30
